Re: checking engine oil pressure

This is a bearing housing I made with an oil seal running on the end of shaft, too get 100% of the oil into the centre. The feed pipe will run direct from the main gallery at the pump, and not through the torturous path, and finally through a very hot cylinder head, as in the standard set up. I am s...

Re: BRAKES

Thanks Bob, the linings I've had fitted are for road use, I think I will leave them a little longer than what I presume to be datum points cast into the edge of the shoe, and then see what transpires when the bike is up and running. I have also took a light skim off the mounting faces, to ensure thi...

BRAKES

1959 200 SS rebuild (brakes). I presume they were manufactured by Grimeca ? I have various drums, plates and shoes at my disposal, the question being, what is the correct length of the lining. Some of the shoes have linings on the greater part of there surface / length, one set of front and rear sho...

Re: SSi remote float.

I don't think you are missing anything Bob, the banjo section on the fixed chamber, and the separate Dell-Orto banjo for the remote chamber, are the same dimensions.

Re: Narrowcase front guard

Here you go Bob, This is the centre stay off my 1959 200SS, which I think would have been the same on the Elite and Silverstone. I removed it from the guard for blasting and painting.

Re: NC Front hub issues.

Hi Bob, it would seem your findings are the norm. I have just checked a hub I have at hand, and it is all original to the best of my knowledge . The bearing spacer is indeed not a great piece of engineering, as to the material or it's design. It is a parallel tube with no external flanges, and way o...

Re: Fork strip

Thanks Matt, It would all seem to be a bit of an Enigma. I have not scrutinized all three sets in minute detail for any signs of different manufacture, but they would all seem to be of identical design.

Bob, Have you considered light hydraulic oil.

Re: Fork strip

I have striped out three sets in total, and will use the best parts to assemble a good set for my 200SS. I was given to understand the numbers on the anchor boss indicated the year of manufacture, can anyone decipher these, as only 64 would seem to confirm this.

Re: Fork strip

Hi Bob, When you are next up near Diss, give me a shout. The previous posts seem to have come up with the answers, as I have a set apart, I thought the pictures might add a bit more info. The items are as removed, Thinking out loud , if the valve was fitted the wrong way round, I think it would poss...

Re: Location Location!

Mike signed it at the 1978 TT, his son David and widow Pauline signed it when they opened the Hailwood centre at Brands Hatch, but I can't recall the year. Tragically his daughter Michelle lost her life with Mike in 1981.
