Re: Fork strip

Thanks Matt, It would all seem to be a bit of an Enigma. I have not scrutinized all three sets in minute detail for any signs of different manufacture, but they would all seem to be of identical design.

Bob, Have you considered light hydraulic oil.

Re: Fork strip

I have striped out three sets in total, and will use the best parts to assemble a good set for my 200SS. I was given to understand the numbers on the anchor boss indicated the year of manufacture, can anyone decipher these, as only 64 would seem to confirm this.

Re: Fork strip

Hi Bob, When you are next up near Diss, give me a shout. The previous posts seem to have come up with the answers, as I have a set apart, I thought the pictures might add a bit more info. The items are as removed, Thinking out loud , if the valve was fitted the wrong way round, I think it would poss...

Re: Location Location!

Mike signed it at the 1978 TT, his son David and widow Pauline signed it when they opened the Hailwood centre at Brands Hatch, but I can't recall the year. Tragically his daughter Michelle lost her life with Mike in 1981.

Re: Location Location!

At the 1960 London Earls Court motorcycle show, Diana Concessionaires of London, the FB Mondial importers had a stand with one of Mike's ex works bikes on show. The gentleman I spoke to was Stan Hailwood, who invited me to cock my leg over it. The result of which, I purchased a new 175 Mondial Sprin...

Re: Location Location!

Hi all, I live just south of Norwich in Norfolk. I am about half way through totally rebuilding a 1959 200 SS, which came to the UK from America. I bought it complete , with two more incomplete and dismantled, when I sorted everything, it turned out, a spare engine was the correct one for the comple...

I would have thought something by the Three Degrees would be more suitable.

Re: New 250 Project Adventure

Ingenious set up Rob, a pity you had to revert too manual operation. I tried the Maraca type shake by hand, but soon gave up on that one. My thoughts then turned to the cement mixer, I knocked up a couple of brackets and bolted it to the bowl. I used about two pints of pea shingle, mixed with diesel...

Re: Resurfacing rocker arms

A little bit late to the party as I have been away on holiday. This company maybe of interest, Phil Joy was recommended to me by the late Mick Walker. Mick used them when he was running his Ducati dealership, so a long established business. I had two sets of rockers built up and re-ground, and two s...

Re: Recognize this seat - 250 single

Hi Rob, like Jeff I think your seat is very likely genuine, as Ducati definitely used Giuliari seats. This is the seat I rebuilt for my 200SS, the Giuliari badge is a repro, as mine was beyond reclaim. It is identical to the original badge. Hope this is of help. http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x...
