Narrow Case AC vs DC coil

I know that the red label coil is a DC coil for a battery setup and the green label coil is an AC coil for a magneto setup. I have several coils in the parts bin with no labels. How do you tell the difference? Have seen that there is a difference in the secondary resistance but don't know how to tes...

Re: Help needed with my 175

Additional picture of the other side of the bike would help.

Re: New 350 owner/help ID a 66

To add my .02 cents, the handlebars look to probably be stock Sebring as sold in the US. They are tilted back from what most of the factory pics have them mounted. The front end could be a Marzocchi unit from a 1967 Scrambler. These were 35mm fork legs that would take more pounding than the 31.5 uni...

Re: Kickstart lever for rear sets

Listing on Ebay for one of the Mark3/Mach1 kick start levers to go with rearsets. Not my listing and I provide it just as information. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kickstart-Lever-Vintage-Ducati-250-350-Mark-III-Mach-1-Diana-Desmo-303/132305042583?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438....

Re: 1965 Ducati 250 Mark III - Diana?

Hi Chuck not sure about the paint to be honest but this one is definitely very glossy. I purchased the Ian Fallon book and from what i can tell it wouldn't be out of the question for me to restore this with clip on's, Blue tank and Black frame with normal footpegs. Am I correct in assuming I should...

Re: 1965 Ducati 250 Mark III - Diana?

Mr Pink, Very nice example of a Mach 1. I am a little curious about the high gloss silver paint on the bike. From my memory the silver paint on the original bikes was semi-matt or matt finish paint. I was never around when one was pulled out of the crate but the original bikes I have seen were not h...

Re: 1965 Ducati 250 Mark III - Diana?

I don't recall having seen a narrow case frame made for the street that did not have what you call the passenger footrest lug. Excellent! The mystery gets murkier .... :D So ... dunno! Maybe the lugs were specific to US export bikes? Who knows? Well here is a survey of the contents of my garage. Pr...

Re: 1965 Ducati 250 Mark III - Diana?

Interesting frame with the Mark 3 tool box mounting tabs but not the rearset mounts. Still for a 1965 that is probably correct. Hmmm... I still lean towards early/mid-1964. 1. The numbers correspond with Ian Falloon's advice. 2. There is blue paint underneath the red over-coats. Blue wasn't used on...

Re: 1965 Ducati 250 Mark III - Diana?

Welcome to the forum.

You have a good start there but still have a lot of parts collecting to do if all you have is what is in the pictures.
