12.8mm front to back. 4.15mm from the back face of the gear. Seem to be identical. These are from a widecase 350.

Have you checked valves and seats ? And have you measured your piston and cylinder bore diameters?

The thread pitch, on a 250Mk3 or Monza, is 1.25mm, the thread dia. is 12mm, which is listed as a metric fine type.

Following the given details, the situation stays unclear for me. You measured ~6V AC on each lead against the chassis? Was this done while the leads were disconnected from the R-R or not, and did you measure at idle speed or higher revs, i. e. 4k? You quoted the leads having no connection to chassis...

Well, if it is a spanish made engine, it would have been equipped with a Motoplat ignition/alternator (which is known to produce a weak spark and to fail often). Also, the oil pump drive gear, idling between crankshaft and points shaft, is made from plastics and is known to wear or fail prematurely....
