Re: direct replacement 6 Volt rectifier for Monza

A manual for the early n/c singles (125 - 200) is kept here http://s5.histats.com/stats/r.php?104172&100&58&urlr=&www.rpw.it/Files/Ducati_Motoleggere_Monoalbero_ManOff.pdf for download, but beware: ~63 MB size, italian lang. No link for a downloadable manual for the later n/c's (160 ...

Re: direct replacement 6 Volt rectifier for Monza

The bike was in bits when I got it, but the previous owner bought it complete (albeit a non-runner) and took it apart. Here's the stator: DSCF5241small.jpg and the regulator/rectifier (with the cover and rectifier removed): DSCF5219small.jpg I did the tests described elsewhere on this forum and con...

Re: direct replacement 6 Volt rectifier for Monza

The "black brick" R-R fits only the 60W alternator which was used in all the 250 and 350 n/c models, except the Mark3, featuring the 40W alternator without any regulator. The latter cannot combined on any condition with the 60W type. So, if your bike is a 200cc or even smaller, the black b...

Re: direct replacement 6 Volt rectifier for Monza

The 60W alternator: https://s26.postimg.org/6c1rbl1c5/alt_fig.jpg The grounded centert tap mentioned in my earlier posting is clearly visible as a solder lug on the stator plate, and as a small triangle in the schematics drawing. And here are the the instruction how to modify the 60W stator for the ...

Re: Carb novice requests help

An old thread http://www.motoscrubs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1269&p=8628#p8628 might be useful for you. It'sabout a PHBH30, which for me seems a more natural replacement for the VHB29.

Re: direct replacement 6 Volt rectifier for Monza

Indeed, this item looks the same. But their explanation is wrong/misleading: The Monza/Mach1 alternator is not a single phase machine, it has 2 phases as well, like the widecase 90W alternator. The difference is: The monza version has it's center tap grounded locally on the stator plate and thus onl...

Re: direct replacement 6 Volt rectifier for Monza

Guys, I'm not a n/c specialist and do not own one, have only worked on friend's bikes, but on a lot of the electrics and differentt charging systems. However, I'm a curious person, always willing to learn. So, I just surfed a bit through the web and finally found this: http://www.regulatorrectifier....

Re: direct replacement 6 Volt rectifier for Monza

You need diodes with 100V blocking voltage minimum and at least 10-20 A continuous load current, so you might order for instance the following "cathode to case" diodes: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1N3663-DIODE-DO-208AA-400V-30A-FWD-P-F-PRESS-FIT-new-MFR-BSC/130842390578?hash=item1e76d07032:g:...

Re: direct replacement 6 Volt rectifier for Monza

Jim, you are right. I also guess those diodes have disapperaed from the market. Their case # is TO-203, 1/2" press-fit with knurled outer dia. ebay shows a lot of versions made for different purposes https://www.google.de/search?q=einpressdiode&client=firefox-b&dcr=0&tbm=isch&tb...

Re: direct replacement 6 Volt rectifier for Monza

I'm afraid there is no direct replacement R-R ("black brick") for your bike. The Ducati factory once issued detailed instructions how to modify the alternator stator and then use the later wide case R-R. I can send this as a pdf on request. cheers Hans p.s. http://www.motoscrubs.com/Ducati...
